The history of Premier Shows dates back to 1932 when Harold Schmidt, a German immigrant, staked a claim in the Dakota Territory.  Though the soil was rich in potential the dream quickly faded due to locust and drought and a growing family.  Armed with nothing but old fashioned tenacity he turned

to his musical talents and started "The One Man Band".  He played 10 instruments at one time and began touring the Dakota's and Minnesota.  During this time his children were also taught to perform which resulted in the creation of Schmidt Circus.  The Schmidt Circus traveled in the Midwest under a big top which included whip and rope artists, clowns, magicians, acrobats, and animal acts (elephants and lions).

As family members became college age, extra financing was needed for their education.  Hence, rides were added creating "Schmidt Circus and Rides" which made a truly unique experience for patrons.

As family members graduated college, some began to pursue other vocational directions and the circus era came to end.  It was during this time that the big top was sold and the animals donated or sold to zoos around the country.  Parenthetically, the skeletal remains of one of the circus elephants (Rosa), which died of natural causes, is on display at the Minnesota Museum of Natural Sciences.

As a family, we have never forgotten our beginnings in the entertainment business and we are looking forward to serving you.  Our motto has been and will continue to be  "Grow With Us, We Will Set the Standard."
